One glance at the back of my new magazine, and o-o-o-o-h did I ever feel special! They knew my name! A big company like that took the time to call me by name! Thousands of magazines to send out and yet there I was, in bold print! Dear Brenda, the note began.
A glance at the other side of the page told a different story. Yes my name was there all right but the rest of the sentence read ‘or Current Resident.’
Current Resident!! Then I wasn’t really beloved and special? They didn’t care about me? Was it true that all they wanted was my subscription renewal?
Well, maybe I’m not special to those folks but 1 John 3:1 says that God loves us so much that he calls us his children!
1 John 3:1-See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are (NIV)!
He even calls us by his name!
Jeremiah 15:16- Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts (AMP).
He loves us so much that his Son died for us…..
John 3:16-For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (LB).
Prayer: Thanks God, that we are more than a ‘current resident’ to you… Amen.
