Do you ever wonder why we save all this daylight? Since it is saved, what are we doing with it? Does it go into a bank? How do we spend all this extra daylight? Do we value it at all, spurge with it, whine about it or just ignore it? Why aren’t we doing something special with it?
The Bible says that we can’t save our own life, let alone our daylight!
For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting]. (Matthew 16:25, AMP)
The NIV gives a simpler version:
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. (Matthew 16:25, NIV)
Enjoy the extra light that daylight savings gives, but even more, enjoy the light of the world, the Christ, the light who actually saves!
Prayer – God, forgive us for spending our time thinking abut the lesser lights of the world. Amen
