How bad is your life right now? Maybe I should ask this question instead. What is the worst thing that ever happened to you?
Still there is something worse than what is happening to us. The worst thing is to make the wrong decision while you are in the worst place.
The truth is that we’re not a product of our circumstances; but we are a product of our decisions.
For example you have a fight with your spouse and rather than forgiving you choose to leave. That decision breaks up the family, and places everyone in some degree of poverty.
Or a close family member gets ill and you pull away and leave them to a stranger’s care. The emotional after tides will haunt you.
You decide to marry a person just no one else is available, not because you really love them. I don’t need to explain the crazy that brings.
Take a look at these situations and what the decisions did to change the circumstances.
“When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his people, the Israelites. (Acts 7:23, NIV)
The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea. (Acts 11:29, NIV)
So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. (Matthew 27:7, NIV)
So Pilate decided to grant their demand. (Luke 23:24, NIV)
Prayer – Father we make bad decisions every day. Remind us to consult you first and foremost and not our own will. Amen
