My friend meant to say a long divorce battle, but instead used the words, a long devours battle. Truthfully that is what divorce really is, a battle between two people who once loved each other and now profess to hate one another. A divorce devours everything and everyone in its path.
Officially a divorce is the legal ending of a marriage, but on the way to that final moment, the devouring happens; devouring, those moments of hurt, anger and unforgiveness that lead to the final decree.
The Bible says… Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8, NIV)
That’s no reason to help him.
Prayer – Father God, help us to see one another through the eyes of Christ. Help us forgive and stop devouring those we (used to) love. Amen
