How do you decide what to give and who to give it to? The world needs our help. What is the responsible thing to do?
First, let the world take care of worldly charities.
Second, support your local church with tithes and offerings.
Third, decide which Christian Ministries to support.
Fourth, give generously but with discernment!
Have you discovered Ministry Watch? It is the U.S. consumer reporter of Christian charities. They keep a close watch on ministry finances. Their goal is to provide people like you and I with wisdom, understanding and discernment.
Every year they make a list of the best and the worst ministries. Believe me, you will be surprised. I certainly was.
Of course we want to help others. The Lord loves a cheerful giver, but he also appreciates a smart one.
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7–NASB)
A wise king winnows out the wicked [from among the good] and brings the threshing wheel over them [to separate the chaff from the grain]. (Proverbs 20:26, AMP)
Prayer: Lord, help us discern truth so that we don’t waste what you gave us to give. Amen.
