No this is not a weight loss devotional, but it is a Jesus one! Eating satisfies all our senses. We breath in its odor, enjoy it with our eyes, read menus, cookbooks and ponder just how good it tasted. We eat every day for our health. We begin with mother’s milk and end up loving French cuisine. Spiritual food has the same qualities.
Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So, I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
(Ezekiel 3:3, NIV)
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
(Psalm 119:103, NIV)
Taste, see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
(Psalm 34:8, NIV)
When we don’t read the Word of God, study difficult passages or hear from God through his word, we are just like babies who won’t grow up and eat solid food.
By this time, you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet you need someone to go over basics again, —baby’s milk. You should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for the inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.
(Hebrews 5:11-14, MSG)
Are you a grown up or are you still trusting someone else to tell you what’s in the Bible?
