Esau’s Stew

Eating Biblically can enlighten our knowledge of the Bible passage.

One day Jacob was cooking a stew. Esau came in from the field, starved. Esau said to Jacob, “Give me some of that red stew—I’m starved!” That’s how he came to be called Edom (Red). (Genesis 25:29, MSG)

The KJV calls it red pottage. Other translations say stew or red lentils. Here is your chance to try my versions of Esau’s Stew!

Chili in a Heartbeat

  • 2 cans of kidney (or other type) beans, drained.
  • I can diced tomatoes
  • I envelope chili mix
  • Chopped mushrooms, celery, peppers
  • Heat and serve.

Chickpea Salad

  • 1 can drained chickpeas
  • Enough salsa to moisten.
  • Mix well. Chill. Serve as side dish

“You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat. “

(Matthew 5:6, MSG)
