Since Jesus went through everything you’re going through and more learn to think like him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. (1 Peter 4:1, MSG)
I hopefully persevere while waiting for the miracle of not wanting second helpings and yummy desserts. After all, if Jesus did it why not me? Well he did have the advantage…it was Jesus after all…still the promise is that his strength will be mine.
That’s why I hold out hope for all your bad habits too.. The last ten pounds, the smoking, anxious nail biting, speeding, gossiping…if I didn’t name yours feel free to add it to the list. No matter what you call it is all the same thing. It’s you and I wanting, even demanding our own way. Do I crave obedience to God more than I want my own way? Some days yes, some days no…
Never fear, God has a habit too…He forgives us so we can start over with a clean slate.
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. (Psalm 130:3-4, NIV)
Prayer- Thank you, God.
