I am writing this a month or so ahead, but I expect it will be coming on spring today, because it always does. There might be a blizzard covering everything. There might be bluebirds trilling in the trees.
There might be people on the beaches or skiing on the slopes…but over all, I can say that I can safely expect spring on or about this date.
What do you expect in life? Your wife always has dinner prepared for you?
The dog is your best friend? You get a pay check every week?
We love routine don’t we, but the first time we have a problem we suffer through all on our own. We think we are abandoned by God and that he doesn’t care. BUT friends—here is the truth, you will get over this.
The first time we face financial shortage we bite our nails and worry ourselves sick. But after a few of those, we learn to watch our pennies a bit closer, get a second job or whatever helps out.
Our first disagreement with our spouse is frightening. Eventually we both develop better ways to cope instead of yelling at one another.
That’s the same kind of experience we gain as we continue our relationship with Jesus.
Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.” (John 8:31-32, MSG)
Hang in everyone! Sooner or later, we will have the opportunity to experience God at his fullest.
Prayer- Lord, we are excited to be in full partnership with you in these new experiences. Amen.
