Feen Erbs! Feen Erbs! She had to repeat it and then translate it for me because for the life of me I couldn’t figure out what on earth she was saying! Then I had to look that up because I didn’t know what fine herbs were either!
Fine Herbs are a combination of fresh parsley, chives, tarragon and chervil. Really, how did I miss that?
Don’t we do the same thing to people unaccustomed to our way of speaking about our faith?
We fling around terms like trinity, sanctification, washed in the blood, spiritual warfare and justification as though we grew up teething on them.
A little consideration goes a long way towards helping a newbie understand what’s what in the Christian faith, a few sweet-smelling herbs if you like. (Luke 23:56a, AMP) We’ll discuss this in more detail tomorrow.
For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. (2 Corinthians 2:15, AMP)
Prayer – Lord, help us be that sweet fragrance, for on our own we are a little stinky. Amen
