Ephesians 6:11–Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (KJV).
The news is out. Our food choices affect our health and well-being. Apparently, fiber and anti-oxidant rich whole grains are good for us. Studies show that we can lower our personal risk of heart disease, stroke, colon cancer and even diabetes by 25-40%.
That means we need to read and understand food labels and then choose products made with 100% whole grain and whole wheat flour. Unfortunately, we will still have to actually apply what we have learned and eat a bowl of the stuff.
That’s true of our spiritual life too. Just reading the Bible doesn’t do it. We have to apply what it says. Of course, we do that with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 6:14-17– Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s word is an indispensable weapon (MSG).
Are we just reading spiritual labels? Putting things in the ‘may purchase’shopping cart? Or are we filling our daily bowl and being victoriously energized by God’s applied truth?
Prayer: Lord, give us the grace to do more than just read labels. Help us act on your every word and live it out in our lives. Amen.
