“Oh, a wonderful pudding!” Bob Cratchit said, and calmly too, that he regarded it as the greatest success achieved by Mrs. Cratchit since their marriage.
Well, Bob’s standards were weird indeed for Mrs. Cratchit gave him several children and kept their home on a pittance.
However, comments aside, should you ever have the chance, be sure to eat a double helping! And of course, eat lots of the sauce.
Truthfully, it is unlikely that anyone will offer you either Figgy Pudding or Christmas Pudding or even Christmas Cake. They have fallen out of favour among the elite.
I am not from the elite. I love all of those delights, but the calories prevent my indulgence.
What prevents us for enjoying the good things of life? Is it guilt? Is it opinions of others? Is it the law? Is it calories?
God promises that he knows us better than we know ourselves.
He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. (Romans 8:28,b, MSG)
I say, today is Christmas! Enjoy it with all the goodness it promises through the Christ.
The Christ, better than the best Figgy pudding anywhere! Merry Christmas all!
Prayer- God we thank you for all the goodness you give, every day and especially the goodness you give us through the Christ. Amen.
