Are you struggling with a difficult problem? Does God seem silent? Fasting is rather out of fashion now but the Bible often records how God’s people adding fasting to their desperate prayers.
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: (Daniel 9:3, KJV)
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. (Mark 9:29, KJV)
And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. (Luke 2:37, KJV)
Fasting takes our mind off everyday living and concentrates it on God, allowing for deeper insight into our problems.
Prayer – Lord may we stop looking for our answers in the branches of life, when the truth is often in the roots. Amen
