Little ones sometimes get their shoes on the wrong toes but eventually they figure it out. We should expect that. After all, they are new to the foot business.
However try to explain how a woman of reasonably advanced years (not overly advanced, you understand) gets her shoes on the wrong feet? Okay it is not as bad as it sounds. It was only my orthotic inserts but I trotted around a large shopping mall for quite some time, all the while wondering why my feet hurt. Finally, when I got home and looked carefully…
Sometimes our whole life hurts. We wonder around in a daze trying to figure out what is wrong when all we need to do is return home to the Father, admit our guilt and join the party.
Luke 15:20-24- And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry (NKJV).
But it all started with the journey toward home.
Prayer: Lord we admit we are a long way from you in so many ways. We know the direction to take. Help us take that first step toward you. In Christ’s name. Amen.
