For Such a Time as This

Esther 4:14– “If you keep quiet at a time like this, God will deliver the Jews from some other source, but you and your relatives will die; whats more, who can say but that God has brought you into the palace for just such a time as this(LB)?

The little dress lay my cupboard for many a long year. The first time I remember seeing it, our daughter Judith was only a few months old.

“Here” said Mom. “Maybe you would like her to wear it.”That little dress had been my mom’s. I had worn it. Now it was Judith’s turn. I put it on her a few times but the lawn fabric was so delicate that I hated to use it too often. Judith and hubby Phil’s daughter Lorisa wore it once.

Then came Kaia. She is the first child of our son Charles and wife, Tabetha. I was determined to finally get a picture of someone wearing this dress. I wanted to set up a display box holding all the wearers’pictures and the dress.

Kaia had a bad cold so she wasn’t feeling too perky, but as soon as that dress was on, she became a new woman! She seemed to realize that she was representing all the family line before her. She was ready for such a time as this! She posed. She animated. She grinned. She laughed! She and the dress became one!

God has placed each of us in our spot, right here, right now. Whether our life event will be big or small, only God knows, but this is truth we can hang on to. It is for such a time as this.

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for taking the precious life You have given us for granted. Thanks, Lord, for such a time as this. Amen.

For Such A Time As This

God always has a plan.

Joseph was sold as a slave by his brothers, then falsely accused and imprisoned.  But God has a plan.

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.  Genesis 50:20 NLT

Esther was taken from her home and chosen to be the new queen.  She was in a dangerous position as she was Jewish and Haman wanted to have all the Jews killed.  But God had a plan.

If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”  Esther 4:14 NLT

Moses was supposed to be killed when he was born, but his mother hid him and God saved him.  The Israelites were suffering in their slavery.  After killing an Egyptian, Moses feared for his life and fled to Midian.  But God had a plan.

Look!  The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly they Egyptians abuse them.  Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh.  You mush lead my people out of Egypt.  Exodus 3:9-10

The God who comforted Joseph, directed Esther and appeared to Moses is the same God that we can call on today.  We may not understand why things are the way they are.  At times, it may seem like everything is out of control and everything is falling apart.  But we can be sure that God has a plan.  We must keep our eyes on Him alone.

Remember, He may have you in this place, for such a time as this.

This article makes me think of a song by Ginny Owens, which goes through some of the same themes you cite, Lisa, and has God saying, “not your problem, got a plan.”
