Friend

My friend is as friend does. With her I can be free.
I open up my heart to her, and she lets me just be me.
We talk about the major things. We laugh and moan and share
But always underneath it all, is my friend’s kindly care.

We are great fans of eating out, occasionally swallow ribs.
Hardly ever apples but use lots of sloppy bibs.
As time goes on I’m certain that just as we are now
Will blossom into old age and deepen friendship’s vow.

She’s on the cusp of special, God’s plans for her intent
Forever ruined for ordinary, she’ll go where she is sent.
Her love for Jesus evident, her heart all true for him
He’ll fill her with his message, yes, right topping up to brim

And we who love her dearly continue in this bent.
As we strive to walk our friend’s way, and follow Jesus where we’re sent.

A man of too many friends comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24, NASB)

Need I say more?

Prayer- Lord, thank you for our friends. We expect them to be Jesus with skin and they seldom disappoint us. Amen.
