Fully Equipped

Most men, when it comes to buying a truck, would like to buy one that is fully equipped to handle anything the guy may envision, from moving a house to driving up unpaved mountain dirt roads. As Christians, we too desire to be fully equipped to do whatever God has planned for us. The unique irony about that statement is we already are.

Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 1:4-9 (NIV) “I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge—because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”

God is faithful. Every spiritual gift we'll ever need has already been given to us. The question is, do we utilize them? The spiritual gifts needed could be in the form of teachers and pastors who understand the Word and explain it to the congregation (1 Timothy 4:12-14, 2 Timothy 3:14-16). However, it could also be defined as having a way to explore, interpret and understand God's Word for ourselves. God gave us the Bible as a spiritual gift and tool. All that we really need to know about life on Earth and life eternally in heaven can be found by reading the Word.

The ability to read the Bible when we choose and without persecution is an honor and privilege that not everyone in the world can enjoy. God has fully equipped us with every spiritual gift we would ever need by giving us His Word, the inspired word of God, the Bible.

Thank you Lord for those that came before us who suffered and died all for the sake of freedom to worship you, to read your Word and to praise you openly and freely. To God be the glory. Amen
