Gerded Up

Gerd actually means Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, but your doctor likely calls it by its simple name, heartburn. It can cause severe chest pain, sometimes mistaken for heart problems.

There are ways around this gerd. You might have to eat smaller meals, lose some weight or even take some medication.

The other kind of gird/heartburn is created by the presence of the Christ. It is the girding up, the preparation for service that Christ and his word create in us.

And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs….And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that…Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

…And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.  And they said one to another; Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? (From Luke 24:13-32, KJV)

Prayer – Father God, create in us the burning kind of gird that sets us toward belief and service for the Christ.  Amen
