God Speak (Part Three)

I watch TV with the closed caption on. If a phone call interrupts me, I still see the show but I have to read the words. Let me say that some closed captioners do not do their job well. They leave out important sentences, misspell words and miss entire phrases. Closed caption is a poor substitute for sound.

Big news! If we want to hear from God, we have to really listen. It’s possible we have missed lots of God messages, misinterpreted them or even worse, blatantly ignored them.

In Jeremiah 7:13-15, God clearly says, “I spoke. You didn’t listen.”

Hearing, listening; both are essential.

Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:17, NIV)

When God speaks to us about something, we can move forward into what he said, trusting that he chose his best for us.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13, NIV)

Turn on your sound, folks and listen for God. He is trying to get your attention!

The person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him. (1 Corinthians 6:17, AMPC) Don’t expect lightning bolts or rolls of thunder. Imagine the chaos if we all heard that from God! Constant weather wildness!

No, trust the still small voice of God. He might tell you to clean your closet or finish that term paper. God starts where you are. Trust his word. Trust him to speak with you. He will get your attention if you prepare to listen and hear his voice.

Prayer- Father, we are sitting quietly. Speak to us and we promise to listen! Amen.
