God’s Grandchildren

What grandparent doesn’t like to spoil their grandchildren? Parents have to make rules and keep them. Grandparents like to break all those rules when they are in charge. Things like no candy before dinner, be sure to brush your teeth and be in bed by eight o’clock melt away at Granny’s.

The Bible says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

That’s a parent’s job. If I had full responsibility for those little ones, I would be sterner…but I don’t have to; because someone else is in charge.

You know- God is a parent too. He sent his son Jesus to earth to die for our sins and be raised again from the dead so that we might have forgiveness from our sins, eternal life and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

“And we’re here today bringing you good news: the Message that what God promised the fathers has come true for the children—for us! (Acts 13:32-33, MSG)

The problem is that God has no grandchildren, no, not even one. Each of us must make their own decision to be a follower of Christ. That’s why as a grandparent, I spend more time talking to the little ones about Jesus instead of making rules.

Prayer- Father, you say that we can still bring forth fruit in our old age. (Psalm 92:14)  May every one of our little ones grow up with Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Thanks God! Amen.
