Goo-gah-funga-mobia

Well it finally happened. One of us forgot and used the water tap. And now we suspect she might have the dreaded Goo-gah-funga-mobia! We don’t know what it us but we know it must be awful.

Our town supervisors have been warning us about it for a week now.

You see, they had to make repairs to the town water system and that went well. However that also means that the water had to be tested for safety. We’ve all stocked up on bottled water. We are boiling water for cooking, dish washing and so on. Apparently it is okay to wash your body in it but the dishes; no way!

My friend forgot the rules this am and gargled with the dreaded ‘you might get Goo-gah-funga-mobia’ from the water. Now we await her fate with bated breath.

The truth is that our water is probably fine though no one has said for sure yet. Should my friend gargle with chlorine bleach just in case she is due for Goo-gah-funga-mobia? Wouldn’t that make the bark worse than the bite?

Goo-gah-funga-mobia is just another one of those fears we need not fear. It is our imagination gone wild. What Goo-gah-funga-mobia fears are you facing today? God offers this advice.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, give us the common sense to face all our fears with your advice in mind. For Christ. Amen.
