Here in Ontario, we have a graduated system for those just learning to drive. G1 drivers can’t drive on high speed roadways and must wait at least a year to apply for a G2 licence. While G2 drivers are allowed on high speed roads, they must have a licensed passenger in the car with them. Again, they must wait 12 months before their final road test, when they then can earn a full G license.
It would be nice if we gave G1 (Grace 1) Christians the same courtesy. New believers do not know all the ins and outs of the church. They don’t know all the songs or all the proper Godly behaviours that we have learned over the years. They need time to grow. Our job is to be supportive, helpful and patient.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. (1 Thessalonians 5:14, KJV)
Prayer – Lord once upon a time, we too were new Christians. Help us be kind toward others not so ‘seasoned’ as we are. Amen.
