Guard Your Flesh

Beware your flesh or it will eat you alive. The flesh wants things it shouldn’t have. You don’t need a list from me. You already know what you shouldn’t be getting your hands on. Here’s what we know about our flesh.

The flesh is weak.

(Matthew 26:41)

The more you give into your flesh the more it wants.

(John 3:6)

The flesh is hostile to God; it can’t, will not, submit to God.

(Romans 8:7)

When we live according to our flesh, our minds are set on fleshly desires; but if we live in tune with the Holy Spirit, we have our minds set on what the Spirit desires.

(Romans 8:5, NIV)

Now that we know this, what will we do? Pray for strength for you and for me. Pray that we will follow the Spirit. Pray to be strong in the face of struggles.

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
