Oh the multiple times my mouth has opened in stupidness. That’s why I love this verse about Mary.
All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. (Luke 2:19, 51, NLT)
Everyone concerned is telling everyone they know about the birth of the Christ child… but his mom? She kept these things in her heart, pondering them, trying to understand them, treasuring the memory of them, even meditating on them.
Apparently no one really asked her about them in detail till Luke signed himself on as an investigative reporter.
Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write a careful account for you, most honorable Theophilus, so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught. (Luke 1:1-4, NLT)
Prayer – Lord, help us know when to keep our mouth shut and our hearts open. Whew! What a relieving prayer! Thanks God. Amen
