Heart Surgery

Does a damaged heart love the Lord less than a healthy one does? This is one of the pie-in-the-sky questions my Honey asked this of me, the non-medical person; because I was here and his doctor wasn’t.

He’d had triple by-pass multiple heart surgery and questions like this dogged him; because heart surgery changes who you are right down to your taste buds.

I didn’t know the answer, but I knew who did.

Ezekiel 3:10-Moreover, He said to me, Son of man, all My words that I shall speak to you, receive in your heart and hear with your ears (AMP).

“Are you receiving His message?” I queried?

“Indeed, I have. I do.” replied my Darling.

“Do you love Him with all your repaired heart? Even with the new valve and the triple-by-pass parts?” I probed?

“Even more than before.” He grinned.

Ha! He was teasing me once again. He knew his own answer.

And God confirms it to both of us in 1 Corinthians 4:7.

1 Corinthians 4:7-For who do you know that really knows you, knows your heart? And even if they did, is there anything they would discover in you that you could take credit for? Isn't everything you have and everything you are sheer gifts from God? So what's the point of all this comparing and competing? You already have all you need. You already have more access to God than you can handle. Without bringing either Apollos or me into it, you're sitting on top of the world—at least God's world—and we're right there, sitting alongside you (MSG)!

Our most severe heart critic is our own self. Why do we not take God at His word? We already have more access to God than we can handle…

Will we dodge it? Avoid it? Ignore it? Or cling to it?

Prayer: Thanks God for giving us the choice. Help us to make the right one. Amen.
