Are you one of those hoarder types we keep seeing on the news? Here is a little advice (with my added words in brackets)
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, (like toilet paper and sanitizers)where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.(Now you have to watch out for your neighbour who knows you have stuff and wants it for himself!)
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, (prayer, fasting, Bible study, trust, obedience) where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Try explaining to God that you tripped an old lady just to steal the last container of hand wipes!)
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy your whole body will be full of light. (What are your eyes chasing after right now?) But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
“No one can serve two masters. (Will it be God or sanitizer???) Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Who or what are you trusting right now?) (Matthew 6:19-24, NIV)
Prayer- Lord, help us to trust in you with all our heart and lean not on to our own understanding. We want to submit to you in all our ways so that you will make our paths straight. Amen.
