Holidays Coming

Oh, sweet dieter just sitting there, expanding in your easy chair,
Come join the joy of Christmas thin. Be sure to know that you can win-
The battle of the bulging thighs, the war of trying fat disguise,
The lumpy hips and legs and arms, that send us shrieking in alarms.

To diet classes in New Year when all the fat we fought in fear
Is blithely stuck to chest and rear as extra padded landing gear.
Forgive friends and foes alike who broaden up your waist,
Forcing you to be a part of their Christmas eating taste.

Oblige the hostess dear to you by washing up the dishes,
But never be a party to her cookies and her blintzes.
Stop growing in your easy chair. Start growing in your mind.
You’ve got a lot of inner strength. Just look and you will find.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:22-24, NIV)

Prayer – God, it’s here again, that overeating time. Help us use your self-control, in Jesus’ name. Amen
