Imprisoned

When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he really was the long awaited one.

John thought he had it right, but his life didn’t look right to him so he questioned himself and his God. He had the right answer, but circumstances put him in a rotten frame of mind.

Are you there now? Do feelings like depression, loneliness, fear and unforgiveness clutter your mind? Are you asking God why you feel like you do? Or asking why your circumstances are what they are?

Does your prison include lack of money, joy, family, job or spouse?

Whatever your prison you can ask God the same question.

“Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”(Matthew 11:2b, NIV)

The answer will be the same. Read this verse but put your name in place of John’s and hold tight to what you know.

Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John (YOUR NAME HERE) what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

Prayer – Father, when we are overcome with doubt, feed us your truth till we remember again. For Christ. Amen
