I’m replacing a section of fabric in a dress. Though it is in pieces now, the outfit will once more look just like the designer intended. That’s because I’ll sew it together along the original stitch lines.
Our lives are like those stitches. God lays out a plan for us and we follow—or not. We leave a trail everywhere we go but deviating from God’s planned path causes no end of trouble. Our decisions make a huge difference in our lives and the lives of others.
Adam and Eve took up sewing right after they disobeyed God. Unfortunately they had already followed stitching lines well out of the Designer’s plan.
Genesis 3:7–Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves apronlike girdles (AMP).
But our ever gracious God allows for our bad stitching.
Acts 3:19-So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord. (AMP)
Prayer: Lord may we always be careful to sew our steps into your plans. In Christ. Amen.
