Are you still praying the prayer? Have you given up? Did you get so many blessings it made your head ache so you asked God to stop blessing you?
Those who actually pray the Jabez prayer, see God working in mighty ways, not necessarily financial but always wonderful.
It is not a magic potion or a get me prayer or even an outrageous prayer of faith. If you regularly skip all the ‘begats’ in the Bible, you’d miss it. I’ve printed the verses before and after so you can see for yourself.
The sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar, and Ethnan; and Koz begot Anub, Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum. Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.
Chelub the brother of Shuhah begot Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. And Eshton begot Beth-Rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir-Nahash. These were the men of Rechah. (1 Chronicles 4:9-11, NKJV)
Still think it is not for you? Pick up ‘Beyond Jabez’ by Bruce Wilkinson (Multnomah Press) and hear what mighty things God is accomplishing in the lives of millions. And then ask Him to do the same for you.
Prayer: Oh Lord God, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” Thank you, God! Amen.
