Funny isn’t it. Here we are again at 20-20-20… Is 2020 important or different or special?
It rolls off the tongue nicely. It is easy to remember.
It is the beginning of a new decade.
It is a leap year.
Jeddah Tower (to be tallest in the world) in Saudi Arabia, should be finished.
Poland will have a missile defense system.
NASA plans to study Mars.
Japan will hold the Summer Olympics.
Dubai hosts the 2020 World Expo.
And yet aren’t these small things that happen in one way or another year after year?
But what if 2020 is different; I mean really different? What if 2020 is the year that Jesus returns?
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (2 Timothy 3:1-5, NIV)
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare (Peter 3:8-10, NIV)
Are we ready?
Prayer- Lord, help us to hear and listen and obey and be ready, just in case 2020 is your year. Amen.
