Just a Gravy Boat

Desperate for a pretty dish to serve the cashews in, I finally grabbed the gravy boat. It turned out to be a wise choice. Instead of dipping fingers in the food, guests poured the nuts into their palm! Frankly, I impressed myself with this great idea.

This led to jellied salad in a gravy boat simply because it had a handle and it was easier to pass along the crowded table.

Some of us spend our lives as one-dimensional gravy boats, grateful to be good at something but unknowingly good at anything else because we’ve never tried.

Now Paul insisted that we do one thing.

But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13b-14, KJV)

However on the way to that one thing, he accomplished quite a few other things.

Prayer- Lord, when we have the opportunity to branch out into other areas, give us the courage to go for it. Amen.
