At times like these I sometimes regret my promise. “Yes, unlimited babysitting whenever you need it.” It was one of my children, asking for a babysitter (me!) to get to their house within the next 45 minutes. One of the little ones had a fever and needed tender loving care at home.
So I answered the call. After all, it was for one of my children and I love them. That puts me –ever so slightly–in the same category as God, because he loves us and calls us his children.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1, NIV)
My children had to call me so that I could help them. God operates the same way. When we ask, He answers!
And call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:15, NIV)
Prayer- Lord, may we set aside our wilful pride and call on you every time we need your help…every time Lord, every time. Amen.
