Keep On Hand for Emergencies

It’s a wise idea to keep a few salad foods on hand for emergencies like overwhelming hunger.

Canned vegetables, beans, or fruit, tuna and salmon are a must. Seeds or nuts are a great option. Why not add some flavoured vinegars and dried fruits to your repertoire?

Now that your physical health is assured, let’s speak of the spiritual one.

What verses do you keep handy, ready to quote when overwhelming spiritual hunger assails you?

Hebrews 13:5, Romans 8:28, Psalm 23:1, Philippians 4:6 and Proverbs 3:5 are some of my favourites. But I cling wholeheartedly to these.

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted. (from John 3:16-17, MSG)

Prayer – Lord when we need you more than anything, remind us of the true beginnings of our faith. John 3:16. Amen
