Do you remember D.L Moody, the famous preacher from the 1800’s? His audiences often numbered as many as 10-20,000.
It is said of him that every ounce of his large self, belonged to God. (This gives me hope for my extra poundage!)
He wasn’t well-educated or of fine manners, but he knew God and God’s power and lived the very life he preached. He said, “I believe that sin is the same today as then and that its remedy is the same.” His goal was to save souls for Christ.
When he was asked why he regularly asked for the filling of the Holy Spirit, he answered…” Because I leak.”
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:15-20)
