Life-Changing Babies

Carter lies there in his crib and doesn’t say a word.
But all around him worship, like worm to little bird.
Six weeks old and not a drop of ambition on his part;
He’s just a little baby who stole all of our hearts.

Now Jesus too was baby small. He came to lie on hay.
“Hey, you,” he beckons one and all. “I’ve come to grant a stay-
Of punishment for sin and shame, I’m here to call out loud.
Come see me now as baby but later see the crowds.

Deceivers, doubters, enemies who wish me dead and gone
But when I am they’ll come to know they were forever wrong.
Baby Jesus reigns now and Holy Spirit glows.
And God gets all the glory. That’s just how it goes.

I hope that is where your Christmas is heading…toward the baby that changes all lives. Amen

As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. “Let’s get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us.” They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed. (Luke 2:15-18, MSG)

Prayer-Lord, let our Christmas be all that Christ died for and more. Amen.
