When my husband’s fingers got crushed in a work accident, he asked the doctor if he’d be able to play the piano. The doctor replied that he was certain the fingers would heal well and Ron would be able to play. “Great,” replied my Honey with a grin. “I never could play before!”
The doctor laughed but humor offends some people. They act as though it were a crime against every moral, social or accepted standard. God is not part of that group! It might be called ‘laughter’ in one Bible version or joy, gladness and mirth in another. No matter. God is all for laughter.
On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. (Psalm 100:1-2, MSG)
Prayer: Lord, give us an eye and an ear for humour, especially today when the glooms of March threaten to overwhelm us…In Christ. Amen.
