This was my entry into a challenging word contest. We were to start with six words, then twelve and finally twenty-four. The lines had to connect and tell a story.
# 1-The six word story
For sale – casket, slightly used, unsullied
# 2- The 12 word story
Available – casket, smaller than usual. Suitable for shorter humans or large pets.
# 3 The 24 word story
Disenchanted – Nearly new large hope chest previously offered as small casket, may suit as bridal keepsake storage box. Original owner disappointed mother of five boys.
Words have power. My story started sadly, but added facts changed its direction.
That’s why we have to read the Bible in context and not just dwell on the blessing parts that we like and quote so often. The Bible has conditions. Take this verse for instance. We read it and see ‘rest’ but forget that in order to have that rest; we must actually choose to come to Jesus.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28, NIV)
I invite you to read the whole story. It starts in Genesis and ends at Revelation.
Prayer – Father, point us to your Word in all its glory. Don’t let us away with the little bits. Amen
