Looking Up

Here in Canada, one popular doughnut shop has made doughnut holes successful. Yes, they sell
us doughnut holes by the dozen and we recklessly eat them by the same. What makes them so
popular? Is it the fact that that’s how we see our lives? Miniscule leftovers? Is this us?
Or is this us?
As you go through life, let this be your goal.
Look for the doughnut, not the hole.
It’s hard to see the big picture when our life is happening on the doughnut hole size!
Are we willing to keep our eye on the big picture? Can we see past screaming babies into their
future of self-reliance and personal growth?
Do we see live as generous and giving? Full and expectant? Do we fully trust God and his big
picture to be lived through us?
Remember his picture is salvation for the whole lot of us. How we go through is often the signal
for another to trust him fully.
If we shine in spite of our illnesses, finances and worse, they watch our God sustain us and grow
us and keep us faithful.
This is a new year, time to become what pleases God the most.
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are
to be on your hearts. (Deuteronomy 6:4-6, NIV)
