Writer Bruce Atchison says that he keeps losing his resolve. He adds these comments: “It can’t be under the bed because there’s too much junk stowed under there. It’s not in the dryer either. But seriously, things keep happening that need my attention or distract me.”
Now I know Bruce and anyone as prolific a writer as he is, does not seriously have to worry about resolve… I expect that Bruce works out ways to keep his resolve on the right path.
Daniel did the same thing.
But Daniel determined that he would not defile himself by eating the king’s food or drinking his wine, so he asked the head of the palace staff to exempt him from the royal diet. ” (Daniel 1:8, MSG)
Daniel made plans that helped him stay on the straight and narrow. You see if we don’t, we become the sent home of Deuteronomy 20:8, sent home because wavering resolve and fear will project timidity and cowardly spirit on others.
