Mindless Remembering

Did you mindlessly eat your breakfast, drive to work and put in your day without a thought for the hundreds of thousands who died for you?

Did you pay no attention to what is happening in the world today and the dangers we face? Will you mindlessly find yourself in a war?

At some point will you wake up, only to realize that your mindlessness got you where you are?

Wake up-not to smell the roses but to use all your senses to stay in touch with God and what God expects of us.

And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. They can’t think straight anymore. (Ephesians 4:17-18, MSG)

I want you to put your foot down. Take a firm stand on these matters so that those who have put their trust in God will concentrate on the essentials that are good for everyone.. (From Titus 3:8, MSG)

Prayer-Lord in the name of Christ we admit our thoughtless behavior that is very unlike what you ask of us, especially on this day when we are asked to remember our fallen. Amen.
