Mother of the Bride (Part 2 courtesy of Gina Caswell Kelly gck9454@aol.com)

Gina continues her remembrances of her daughter’s life through good times and bad.

Yesterday, I was the mother of a 13 year old girl cheerleading for the Cubs for her first time. She was the shortest kiddo on the floor. In fact, when the middle school would have dances and I went to pick her up, I would scan the crowd and look for a spot where it looked like nobody was standing and head there. It was Kristy. Yesterday, I was the mother of a fantastic basketball player, fantastic golfer, fantastic artist and a fantastic friend to anyone and everyone, no matter who they were.

Yesterday, I was the mother of a young girl heading off to Tech. Yesterday I was the mother of a young girl who, through no fault of her own, was a part of a tragedy that was overwhelming to all of us. Yesterday, I was the mother of that young girl sitting at the church in front of a coffin which held her daddy.

Yesterday, I was the mother of that sweet young lady telling me I was going to be a Grandma. Yesterday, I was the mother of that same young lady telling me she had found the one God had for her; the one who loved her like no other; yesterday.

Today, I am the mother of the bride and it makes me so happy and so proud of this child who has been through so much in her life but has continued to find her way, and bring so much joy and life to all those around her. Yes, today I am the mother of the bride and I thank God for this blessed day! It is going to make a difference!

But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”(Matthew 13:23, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, help us scatter the good seed of life to our children that they might grow up into wonderful adults that we are proud to know. Amen.
