My friend recently gave me a necklace with this verse engraved on it.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. (Proverbs 31:25, NIV)
She said it described me perfectly. I decided to take it as my life’s motto.
Do you have a motto? Everyone else has one. For instance, 4H clubs choose, ‘Learn to do by doing’ and the Boy Scouts have ‘Be prepared.’
Here is the motto Jeremiah declared over the city of Jerusalem.
The motto for the city will be, “God Has Set Things Right for us.” (Jeremiah 33:16b, MSG)
When Christians have a motto in mind, we can overcome negative self talk, change a bad habit and remind ourselves of whom we are in Christ. It can inspire us on a bad day and give us hope for a better one. Its meaning will become our life goal and purpose. We will move steadily toward it.
Ask God to give you a verse that describes where he wants you to go in your life. Let him set your path and then walk into it. You won’t be sorry.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. (Proverbs 3:7-8, NIV)
Prayer- Father, thank you for giving us words to live by, each and every day. Amen.
