Multiple Gratitude

December is full of Christmas and fruitcake but in our family it also means lots of birthday celebrations. Today is such a day. Our sweet baby boy was born on this day a myriad of years ago.

As promised by his arrival, he continues to bring us great joy and delight.

I was home from the hospital in time for Christmas that year, but someone else cooked the meal and served the food. Who is cooking for you this year? Or are you the cooker?

Over the years, I often forgot to be grateful for the chance to make a fine meal for those around me. I muttered and complained about all the hard work. Now that everyone has moved on, I would be ever so grateful to take back that whining. There was great joy in the giving when others received it with satisfaction.

Friend if you are preparing the food this year, enjoy it while you can. It will disappear only too quickly.

And do you see how thankful we must be; not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. (Hebrews 12:28, MSG)

Prayer-Thank you Lord for memories. Help us make good ones this year. Amen.
