No Exaggeration

Luke 22:44And being in an agony of [mind] He prayed [all the] more earnestly and intently, and His sweat became like great clots of blood dropping down upon the ground (AMP).

I used to think that this verse must be an exaggeration. That got me doubting other bits of the Word. I began to make personal decisions on which passages seemed real or even possible. I silently jeered when the pastor taught from a difficult scripture. I made snide comments in my mind about the veracity of the Bible. I looked down my nose at folks who dared use a translation different from mine.

Since doubt is the opposite of faith, it is not surprising that my faith began to fail. Then I found an article about a flight attendant in the midst of a crash situation. Her blood pressure went so high that she literally began to sweat great drops of blood from her forehead. Oh.

Our tiny little minds don’t know everything! What a revelation! I have learned to ask God for help when I struggle with unbelief. And God, who is faithful, answers.

Psalm 4:3The Lord has set apart the redeemed for himself. Therefore he will listen to me, and answer when I call to him (LB).

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for seeing your Word through our own eyes. Holy Spirit, teach us to see with the mind of Christ. Amen
