Not So Picky – Part One

I think these past few months of pandemic lockdown has forced us to be less picky.  Your usual brand of toilet paper was unavailable. Soup brands went missing. We settled for different flours or had to wait for any flavour of cake mix.

A food bank worker told me that someone came in needing help and insisted they only ate a certain brand of soup. At the food bank you don’t get a choice. If they wanted soup, they had to eat what was available.

During these last few months, even those on some weird eating fetish was grateful for any kind of bread, glutton free or not.

We changed vitamin brands and soap needs and everything else. We just wanted something, anything that would do the job.

Things are easing up a bit now. Did you go back to your old brands or did you find that the replacements were just fine and probably cheaper?

As new Christians we have to be aware that our old ways and habits will try to draw us back. Friends, remember you are using the new better brand now, the one that speaks out Jesus.

Now we must be picky in the ways we walk with Jesus. Walk so that others see him and not us professing one thing and choosing another.

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. (From Romans 6:6-7, NIV)

Prayer- God these are high standards, but since you tell us to do it then it must be possible. Help us walk in truth and purity in every instance of our lives… For Christ’s Sake Amen.
