It started simply enough.
The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” (Job 1:7, NASB)
But read the rest of the chapters and you will see these things (notes from Ryrie Study Bible).
Satan is a person. He talked with God, so he is intellectual.
He didn’t like Job and therefore has emotions.
His purpose in destroying Job was to discredit God, so he has a will.
BUT his activities are limited by God’s sovereign control.
His name means adversary-that is against God’s will.
He opposes God’s person, plan and people.
He roams the earth until….
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, which is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:1-2, NASB)
Prayer- Lord, give us your strength to fight all this until then, by the blood of Christ. Amen.
