Open the Door of Hospitality

Luke 7:44-46turning to the woman but speaking to Simon, he said, Do you see this woman? You provided no water for my feet, but she rained tears on my feet and dried them with her hair. You gave me no greeting but from the time I arrived, she hasnt quit kissing my feet. You provided nothing for freshening up but she has soothed my feet with perfume. Impressive isnt it? (MSG)

Like Simon, many of us are poor hosts. We refuse to have company because we think the dust is too thick, the carpet too worn and the children too loud. We can’t afford steak so we offer nothing. I used to be like that until my friend explained that entertaining only needs a good soup and a fresh loaf of bread. Can’t make soup? Go to the store. They have it there.

The Christian Home

The Christian’s home is full of grace. Their table shared with love.
They demonstrate God’s principles sent from heaven above.
Everything about their home is gracious and sublime.
They guide the conversation, redeeming now the time.
To visit there, no matter hour, or time of day or night
Is to find Christ glowing gently, with them His shining light.

Prayer: Lord, we are too house-proud for our own good. Bring a name to our heart so that we can invite someone to our home and share what we have. Let that include Jesus. Amen.
