The days are turning bitter now. Darkness prolongs its stay,
The leaves are dead upon the ground. All nature painted gray.
My life lays ashen in fall frost for all I do feels vain,
The motion’s there yet motionless. My heart pumps pallid pain.
O God, I am but overwhelmed. So lost in circumstance;
O God, I’m sinking in the cold, disheartened in the dance.
But Love was there, it always was. My Self had veiled His voice,
In softness then I heard Him speak. “In Love you have a choice.”
My hollow heart had hurt so long. Succumbed to night’s dark voice,
Forgotten was perspective’s call To mourn or to rejoice.
O God, I am but overwhelmed. So lost in circumstance;
O God, I’m sinking in the cold, disheartened in the dance.
I cried to Love to help me see the world the way He sees,
To sweep away the shriveled leaves and set my bleak mind free.
A trickle—then a cleansing flow. His blood washed death away,
The seasons flipped from fall to spring, dispelling winter’s gray.
