Oxymorons

You may not know what they are but you use them every day. We all do. An oxymoron is a term used to describe words used together even though they mean the exact opposite; Words like these.

Act naturally                                    seriously funny Jumbo Shrimp

Found missing                                 paid volunteer ill health

Second best                                      taped live living dead

Deafening silence                             pretty ugly  alone together

They are funny when you really look at them, aren’t they?  God likes to use oxymorons in his word.

Try these on for size.

Those who mourn are comforted, the weak are strong, the hungry are filled and the persecuted are glad. (From Matthew chapter 5, 2 Corinthians 12:10)

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.(2 Corinthians 12:10, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, oxymoron us some more; for your word says what seems impossible and makes it possible. Amen.
